SAN DIEGO and CHELTENHAM, UK, November 30, 2011 -

Atego, the world leading software tools and professional services supplier, for complex, mission- and safety-critical systems and software engineering has announced that ATLAS ELEKTRONIK, Bremen, Germany (www.atlas-elektronik.com) a joint venture between Thyssen Krupp and EADS, has signed an Enterprise Agreement for Artisan Studio®.  The agreement provides all ATLAS ELEKTRONIK business division’s access to Artisan Studio including sites located in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia and the UK.

“This Corporate Purchasing Agreement reflects the importance of Artisan Studio to ATLAS ELEKTRONIK as its modeling tool of choice for systems and software development,” said Pierre Cesarini, CEO of Atego.  ”Artisan Studio is already the standard SysML/UML modeling tool for many of the world’s largest electronics companies and we are very pleased to welcome ATLAS ELEKTRONIK to this continually expanding family.”

“We had been using Rational Rose for 15 years at ATLAS ELEKTRONIK and the time had come to select a contemporary replacement.  We looked at a number of alternatives and found Artisan Studio to be the most suitable replacement. This Agreement gives all our business divisions staged deployment of Artisan Studio within the context of a highly competitive, pre-agreed pricing structure, for years to come.” said Oliver Paland, Development Engineer, Team leader SW Engineering at ATLAS ELEKTRONIK.  He continued  ”One of the key factors in selecting Artisan Studio is its ability to import legacy models, enabling us to preserve our significant investment in model-based design.  Artisan Studio also helps us adopt the current OMG UML & SysML standards, whilst also giving us a great modeling platform the future.”

ATLAS ELEKTRONIK ’s plan to use Artisan Studio to model their heterogeneous architectures across their submarine, naval weapon, surface combat, mine warfare, unmanned underwater vehicles, maritime security, naval communications and hydrography software systems.  With more than 1,900 employees distributed across 4 locations in Germany, 9 countries and 5 continents, design time collaboration is critical for ATLAS ELEKTRONIK, as is the automated generation of source code and interface definitions, all provided by Artisan Studio.  ATLAS ELEKTRONIK continually provides new naval defense solutions such as mine countermeasures and costal surveillance, so software evolution is key.

“Artisan Studio’s openness is a primary enabler for ATLAS ELEKTRONIK to integrate its models with requirements tools such as DOORS and generate code with its powerful code synchronizers.” said Roger Dierks, Senior Sales Manager, Atego, Germany. “We have helped ATLAS ELEKTRONIK move to a collaborative modeling environment, dramatically improving communication, quality and productivity.”
