NEW YORK, November 20, 2011 -

Babylon.com, the world’s leading provider of language solutions, such as the most popular dictionary and translation software, is marking International Children’s Day by drawing attention to the need for improvements in education for children from underdeveloped countries. Babylon has donated over 20,000 licenses of its software to hundreds of schools around the world.

The International Children’s Day is unique because its special and specific focus is on children from underdeveloped countries.

Babylon’s donation is part of the Company’s commitment to give back to the community.

Earlier this year, Babylon donated computers and free licenses of its software to children of the Himba tribe in Namibia.

“International Children’s Day is an important day to celebrate with everyone, but it is a time to acknowledge that more can and should be done for children throughout the world.” Alon Carmeli, Babylon’s CEO

“57% of Internet content is in English, yet only 27% of Internet users are native English speakers.” continues Alon Carmeli. “Children and education are our top priority and hopefully our donation will help improve and bridge the gap of languages for millions of children worldwide and will impact their lives and futures in a positive manner as to become tomorrow’s leaders.” concluded Carmeli.

Over the past two years, Babylon has initiated ‘Babylon in Every School’ - a donation program for schools worldwide, whereby it donates its software to all K-12 educational institutions so that every child will have access to Babylon’s wide variety of languages, dictionaries and resources. Since its launch, Babylon has donated more than $600,000 worth of its software to hundreds of schools around the globe.
