BANGKOK GROUP JOINS GLOBAL EFFORT TO BREAK GUINNESS “THRILLER” DANCE RECORD

A Charitable Event to raise money for the Bangkok refugee center

“Thrill The World ’09 4 Bangkok Refugee Center”, is an official participant in the global effort to break the Guinness Record for the largest simultaneous performance of the dance sequence in Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music video. According to the Thrill the World ’09 International Headquarters, the current record is 1,722 people dancing in 52 cities, across 5 continents, set on October 27th and 28th, 2007, by Thrill The World.

The Bangkok, Thailand official dance performance is scheduled to take place on October 25th, 2009, at 7:30 a.m.. “We’re still negotiating with a couple of great venues for the big performance,” said event manager, Lola Rainey. “We need a space large enough to serve as a stage for this very entertaining and rather theatrical dance performance, “she added.

Rainey said individuals interested in joining the dance group are asked to make a 100 baht donation, which serves as a registration fee, and to make a personal pledge to raise an additional 900 baht. “This dance is a tribute to the musical genius of Michael Jackson but it’s also a fundraiser for an important local charity, the Bangkok Refugee Center,” she stated.

Rainey said attendance at one of the two on-going dance rehearsals is also required. “This is a grassroots dance movement. Our group is open to everyone. If you love to dance or just want to learn how to do the “zombie” dance from Thriller, come to one of our rehearsals,” she said.

In addition to the October 25th official performance, Rainey said the group is also planning to do a special evening performance on October 24th. “We want to give as many people as possible the chance to see the performance. We’re the only official Thrill the World ’09 dance Group in Thailand and with the untimely death of the King of Pop, this year’s performance takes on special significance.”

“We hope to be able to add a few surprises to the October 24th performance. Please visit our website www.ttw094brc.wordpress.com to stay current with information about both performances,” Rainey relates.
