Black Hat Abu Dhabi Briefings Highlight Cyber and Forensic Security

ABU DHABI, UAE, December 9, 2011 -

The final line up of briefings sessions for Black Hat Abu Dhabi (www.blackhat.com) held over two days from 14-15 December 2011 at Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi is now confirmed. The briefing sessions will run alongside the exhibition of security specialists and solution providers. Through sessions covering malware, mobile security, denial-of-service-attacks and the blue-hat contest cyber security and forensic security vulnerabilities and trends are highlighted.

Travis Carelock, Technical Director at Black Hat, said, “As more devices become “smarter” with code, hardware and features, we see an increase in cybercrime. The IT/Security department must broaden its scope to include this brave new world of mobile enterprise networks.”

The two days of briefings at Black Hat Abu Dhabi 2011 is set to bring together the best minds in security worldwide to help Middle Eastern enterprise network managers and security officers define tomorrow’s information security landscape in the region.

Among the topics being covered at the briefings is Ken Baylor’s topic of “Financial Armageddon? Inside the Zeus and SpyEye Tidal Wave” that explores the capabilities of financial malware (on PCs and mobile platforms) and threats to the global financial industry.

Among others, the briefings will also explore the “Legal Aspects of Cybersecurity” by Robert Clark. The presentation is a year in review of important legal issues involving cybersecurity, computer network operations and the Internet. As always the agenda is driven by current up-to-the-minute releases of current issues and judicial opinions.  These are just two of the briefings sessions from a list of over thirty to appear at the event.

While the keynote speaker at Black Hat Abu Dhabi 2011 is General Michael Hayden, United States Air Force (USAF), Retired, former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Deputy Director of the National Security Agency (NSA).

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) represented by the UAE Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), in cooperation with Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR) has partnered with UBM Middle East for the second year in a row to bring Black Hat Abu Dhabi to Emirates Palace from 12th to 15th December 2011.
