LONDON, December 8, 2011 -

Orlando’s family theme park resorts are already embracing the festive spirit; well ahead of the busy holiday season. DialAFlight looks at what’s in store for tourists visiting this year.

A city situated in America’s ’sunshine state’ may not be considered the ideal location to celebrate a seasonal white Christmas, but that seemingly hasn’t stopped millions of tourists in the past booking flights to Orlando and visiting some of Florida’s top theme parks during the festive season.

Some of Orlando’s top theme parks do more than enough to make up for the lack of snowfall during the festive months, by organising spectacular shows and events. DialAFlight, one the UK’s leading travel operators, takes a sneak peek at what’s in store for families visiting during this holiday season.

Walt Disney World: As you’d imagine with anything Disney related, a Magical theme resides throughout the Magic Kingdom (one of four parks which make up Walt Disney World). There’s a whole host of Christmas themed events planned throughout the festive season. Magic Mickey Mouse’s Very Xmas Party Parade is certainly a family favourite but there’s also live entertainment, a magical snowfall simulation and a spectacular fireworks extravaganza.

Sea World: Shamu and friends have plenty of fun-filled festive treats in store for families visiting Florida’s famous aquatic theme park this December. The multi-sensory Polar Express ride, for example, allows guests to climb abroad a simulated train to the North Pole, whilst a Winter Wonderland ice show will see some of the world’s top ice skaters dance to a backdrop of fireworks and jovial music. Animal shows still run throughout the holiday period, but with a sprinkle of Christmas joy blended into each performance.

Universal Studios: From December 3rd, guests visiting Universal Studios Florida can enjoy an array of spectacular shows. One of the highlight events is the Thanksgiving Day Parade, which is always popular with families. The same floats, which parade through New York’s street during Thanksgiving, make the journey south to Florida for Christmas. Guests can enjoy marching bands, giant balloons and even Santa’s surprise guest appearances- marvellous.

With these Christmas themed events already taking place in many of Orlando’s best theme parks, guests are advised to book tickets well in advance of travel- to avoid disappoint. However, don’t despair if actually getting tickets before Christmas time proves difficult. Many Christmas themed events are due to carry on well into the New Year.
