Taking place at 9:30am during the first main conference day on 21st February 2012, the anticipated G6 discussion will centre on the future of armoured vehicles.  Moderated by Event Chairman Lieutenant General Sir John Kiszely, KCB MC, the debate will incorporate feedback from 6 representatives from BAE Systems, Force Protection, Thales, OshKosh, Nexter and General Dynamics, as follows:

  • Dr. John Gutteride, Strategy & Business Development Director, BAE Systems Global Combat Systems
  • Dr. Vernon Joynt, Chief Technology Officer, Force Protection
  • Major General (Retired) Chris Wilson, Strategy Director, Thales Land Defence (UK)
  • Noah Byers, Director, International Business Development, OshKosh
  • Frederic Bouty, VP, Strategy, Nexter Systems
  • Major General (Retired) Chris Elliot CB MBE, Director, Doctrine and Strategic Analysis, General Dynamics

With current operations in Afghanistan coming to a foreseeable close, one of the major questions for ground capability professionals remaining is ‘What is the future of armoured vehicles?’  The G6 Industry Leaders Global Strategy Debate aims to provide direct insight into critical questions, such as these, facing the armoured vehicles industry today.

Although audience members will be invited to ask the panellists questions, the main topic points for the session will revolve around potential future battle spaces, key areas for long-term investment in R&D, priorities being set for the ‘Iron Triangle’ and the main characteristics of future conflicts at the front of mind.

This is the first time ever that International Armoured Vehicles is hosting the G6 Industry Leaders Global Strategy Debate, and comes at a critical turning point for the armoured vehicles industry.  In the past two months alone, two major announcements have been made to the public - the first being the £1bn British Army Warrior Fleet upgrade programme, and the second more recently in regards to General Dynamics’ purchase of Force Protection.

The G6 debate is part of the International Armoured Vehicles conference, taking place 20-23 February 2012 at the FIVE, Farnborough, UK.  Details are available online at www.internationalarmouredvehicles.com.
