LONDON, November 18, 2011 -

‘Santas on the run’ - the 2k sponsored fun run in aid of Children’s Hospice South West, which sees 100s of Santas running the streets of Bristol - has become a much loved and anticipated annual event in the city. Today four local NatWest staff donned their santa suits to ensure this year’s run - to be held on Sunday 4 December - got off to a flying start.

Led by NatWest Area Quality Manager Colin Orr, the festive quartet took to the streets on behalf of the children’s charity to encourage local shops and businesses to publicise the event by displaying posters in their windows. Anyone aged 5 and above can register to take part, and with no minimum sponsorship amount required, and a free Santa suit for all, it really is a fun day out for the whole family. Dogs and pushchairs carrying younger children are also welcome - all that CHSW ask is that under 16s are accompanied by an adult and everyone raises as much as they can.

Commenting on the day’s events, NatWest Area Quality Manager Colin Orr said: “This is a fantastic local event held in aid of a charity which provides such an invaluable service and we just wanted to do our little bit to help. It’s very important to us that we are part of, and contribute fully to, the local community in which we all live and work so when the team at CHSW assigned us this task we were more than happy to take to the streets. We would all like to say a big thank you to all the local business owners who welcomed four festive bank managers so openly. With their help hopefully 4 December will see more Santas on the run than ever before!”

Kate Fisher, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser from Children’s Hospice South West, said: “”We can’t thank this team enough. The support from our volunteers helps us to keep costs low to ensure maximum funds raised from our events go towards the vital service we provide to life-limited children and their families across the South West. Our NatWest Santas have done a fantastic job in spreading the word for CHSW. We hope to see even more Santas signed up this Christmas!”
