VANCOUVER, November 17, 2010 - Smartcool Systems Inc. (TSX-V: SSC) has recently completed a second phase
roll-out of its retrofit energy efficiency technology to 65 Sainsbury's
supermarkets across the UK. In 2009, the first phase saw Smartcool's ESM(TM)
installed on the refrigeration systems of 39 Sainsbury's stores, helping the
oldest grocery chain in the UK to begin saving on its electricity bills.

The roll-out of Smartcool's technology is part of Sainsbury's RESET
Program. The mandate of this program is to reduce the company's greenhouse
gas emissions by retrofitting its supermarkets to become more energy
efficient. Smartcool's ESM(TM) uses compressor optimization technology to
reduce the energy consumption of the refrigeration systems, reducing each
Sainsburys store's total electricity usage by between 3.5% and 4.5%.

The roll-out of Smartcool technology to a total of 104 Sainsbury's
locations to date has been a key component in the company's energy saving
strategy. "The Smartcool roll-out has gone extremely smoothly and we are
thrilled to have our refrigeration systems in participating stores now using
dramatically less energy with the ESM(TM)," says Jeremy Waters, Energy
Manager at Sainsbury's. "We are seeing immediate reductions in our greenhouse
gas emissions and operating costs. Given these positive results, we look
forward to continuing our successful relationship with Smartcool in the
future."

"We are extremely excited to be contributing towards the goals of
Sainsbury's RESET Program. Our ESM(TM) has proven to be an ideal solution for
Sainsbury's as our installations do not impact their operations, and we begin
saving them energy, money and greenhouse gases right from day one," declared
Mr. Steven Martin, Sales Director for Smartcool Systems EMEA Ltd.

Smartcool's ESM(TM) and ECO3(TM) products are installed between the
existing compressor and primary controller, involving minimal downtime of the
system. This is critical for businesses like Sainsbury's, where maintaining
refrigeration temperatures and performance is essential.

"In 2011, we are expecting to continue our relationship with Sainsbury's,
installing our technology in further locations in the UK. It is hoped this
third phase will bring substantial energy savings to the supermarket chain,"
says George Burnes, President & CEO of Smartcool.
