PLEASANTON, California - Demonstrates Wireless Security and Interoperability

Trapeze Networks participated in the fourth annual “PlugFest” hosted by the Trusted Computing Group’s Trusted Network Connect work group. This was the third year Trapeze Networks has attended the “PlugFest.”

“The TNC PlugFest is where the rubber meets the road,” said Ted Fornoles, a product manager at Trapeze Networks. “Publishing a specification is important, but its true measure of success is to show that different implementations by several vendors actually work together. Implementing TNC allows an enterprise to protect network health, and as corporations deploy more and more wireless LANs (WLAN) into their infrastructures, Trapeze will help them maintain this level of security.”

The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) hosts the interoperability session to enable member companies using the TNC specifications to test implementations with TNC-based products from other vendors. The session is validation of interoperability in addition to providing discussion and sharing of best practices and experiences with the specifications.

PlugFest participants test hardware and software supporting the TNC specifications in a simulated enterprise environment, using more than a dozen test cases that model common enterprise usage of TNC-based systems.

TCG is an industry standards body formed to develop, define, and promote open standards for trusted computing and security technologies, including hardware building blocks and software interfaces, across multiple platforms, peripherals, and devices.

Trapeze Networks: A Leader in Wireless LAN Security

Trapeze Networks is a recognized leader in wireless LAN security. Last year, it earned certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) that it meets the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 level 2 requirements, and provides end-to-end FIPS-certified data encryption over an assured channel, per the Department of Defense Directive 8100.2.

FIPS-certified products include Trapeze Networks’ Mobility Exchange (MX(TM)) MX-200R-GS/216R-GS controllers, Mobility Point (MP(TM)) MP-422F access points, and Mobility System Software (MSS(TM)).

The FIPS-certified Smart Mobile WLAN solution lets federal, civilian, and DoD agencies deploy and manage non-stop, scalable, secure, mobile applications such as location tracking, voice over WLAN, and seamless indoor/outdoor mobility. It supports the IEEE 802.11i security specification, and wireless Intrusion Detection Systems. Trapeze MSS software enables the controller and access points to operate as a single, unified system providing a highly-secure, scalable WLAN with support for thousands of indoor and outdoor access points.
