BRUSSELS, August 5, 2011 -

Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, a leading counsellor to global financial institutions and corporations, today announced that it has added antitrust lawyer Anne MacGregor to its Brussels-based team. Ms. MacGregor will serve as Special Counsel and will work closely with Alec Burnside, Managing Partner of the Brussels office, to advise clients on European Union law and regulation.

“Anne is a very talented and experienced lawyer. She has a strong track record helping corporate clients navigate EU competition issues,” said W. Christopher White, Chairman of Cadwalader. “Reuniting Anne with Alec Burnside is another step in our effort to build the preeminent global antitrust practice.”

Ms. MacGregor’s career in law spans over 15 years, in Brussels and Washington, DC. She has also served as legal counsel and head of the Merger Analysis Team at MLex, a Brussels-based antitrust newswire relied on by law firms, hedge funds and investment banks. “Her experience in a variety of jurisdictions gives Anne a perspective that major multinational clients have come to value,” said Alec Burnside, who opened Cadwalader’s Brussels office in May 2011. “Anne and I worked on some great deals together in the past, and I’m thrilled that we’re part of the same team again.”

“Cadwalader Brussels has made a flying start, notably with our victory for Aer Lingus alongside the OFT in London’s Competition Appeal Tribunal, in relation to Ryanair’s minority shareholding,” added Mr. Burnside.

“I am thrilled to be joining Cadwalader at a very exciting time for the firm,” said Ms. MacGregor. “The opportunity to again work with Alec and help him build Cadwalader’s global antitrust offering is very appealing. The financial crisis has created many new challenges in the world of competition law and market regulation, and I look forward to helping clients navigate this complex legal landscape.”

Angus Duncan, Managing Partner of the London office, said: “It has been great to work with Alec since he joined the firm, and the addition of Anne to our Brussels team is a very positive development. Our strategy for growth outside of the U.S. continues in Europe and Asia in areas where we offer clients a top level international service.”

Ms. MacGregor’s transactional experience spans numerous industries and includes representation of some of the world’s largest corporations including:
