CHESTER, England -

- Card Users Will get Even More Generous BT Bill Discounts and 0 Per Cent Interest on Balance Transfers for 13 Months

BT announced today that it has ramped up the benefits of its unique credit card. This follows consultation with customers who said they wanted a simpler way of earning uncapped rewards from their BT Credit Card, along with longer interest-free balance transfer periods.

The BT Credit Card now has no limit to the amount of money BT Customers can earn off their BT telephone and broadband accounts just by using the credit card for everyday spending. Every GBP1.50 spent on the card earns a one pence reduction from BT bills.

The card now offers 0 per cent per annum on balance transfers for the first 13 months from the date the account is opened (3 per cent handling fee applies), 0 per cent per annum on money transfers for 13 months (4 per cent handling fee applies) plus 0 per cent on card purchases for the first t3 months. A typical rate of 16.9 per cent APR (variable) applies.

BT Credit Card accounts are directly linked to BT customers’ home telephone and broadband accounts so the discount comes off the BT bill automatically. There are no points to forget about, vouchers to lose, or numbers to call; cardholders’ BT bills simply reduce as cardholders spend on the card. And spending by additional cardholders in the same household also earns BT bill discounts.

Additional benefits of the BT Credit Card include access to online banking to view your PIN, and the ability to check your balance and transactions and set up direct debits and carry out balance transfers. The BT Credit Card also offers cardholders free fraud protection and a free 24-hour worldwide customer help and support line.

John Petter, MD of Consumer, BT Retail, said: “The original BT Credit Card has proved very popular since it launched two years ago and has been the choice of hundreds of thousands of BT customers. Many of them asked if we could uncap the GBP75 automatic BT bill discount limit and we’re delighted to be able to announce that we’ve done that with this card.

“But we haven’t stopped there; we’ve made the discounts more generous: one pence for every GBP1.50 spent, wherever you spend. And we’ve extended the 0% balance transfer offer to 13 months. We think this combination of benefits means that the BT Credit Card can’t be beaten for all-round value.”

The BT Credit card is issued by MBNA, one of the largest credit card issuers in the UK.

Applications for the BT Credit Card can be made at www.bt.com/creditcard or on +44(0)800-1114-114. Discounts are offered on broadband packages when these are included in customers’ telephone bills, not where broadband is billed separately.
