MCKINNEY, Texas - Torchmark Corporation (NYSE: TMK) reported today that for the quarter ended March 31, 2009, net income was US$.91 per share (after a charge of US$.49 per share for impairment of invested assets) compared with US$1.29 per share for the year-ago quarter. Net operating income for the quarter was US$1.49 per share, a 4% per share increase compared with US$1.43 per share for the year-ago quarter.
