Empire State Building and Iconic Towers to Raise Awareness for Japanese Relief Efforts by Shining Tower Lights White and Red

World's Most Famous Office Building Leads Towers Around the Globe in Illuminating to Encourage Donations for Japan

NEW YORK, April 1, 2011 - The Empire State Building (ESB) along with other iconic towers around the
globe will join in a worldwide show of solidarity to raise awareness and
encourage support for the people of Japan after the devastating earthquake
and tsunami, by shining their lights white and red - the colors of Japan - on
Monday, April 4, 2011.

ESB has asked other towers around the globe to unite together in support
of Japan and light to generate awareness of the aid efforts worldwide. In
addition to ESB, participating towers include:

    -- CN Tower (Toronto, Canada)
    -- John Hancock Observatory (Chicago, Illinois, USA)
    -- Menara KL (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
    -- Macau Tower (Macau, China)
    -- North Tower (Seoul, Korea)
    -- Olympic Tower (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
    -- Sky Tower (Auckland, New Zealand)
    -- Spinnaker Tower (Portsmouth, Hampshire, United Kingdom)

"On April 4, the Empire State Building tower lights will shine for Japan
which is desperately in need of the world's support and financial
assistance," said Anthony E. Malkin, Empire State Building Company. "We are
proud that buildings around the globe have agreed to join our efforts to
raise awareness for earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan."
