CHELTENHAM, England - Since launching last autumn, clothing company, Turf Legends has become firmly established as the preferred clothing of the horse racing fraternity. The first range from the company was the Dick Rees Classic Colours Collection, taking as its inspiration the vibrant colours of some the great racehorses of the last 80 years- including Red Rum, Britain’s all time favourite.

Building on the success of the first collection, Turf Legends are releasing Rees Casual, a range of Polo & Tee shirts with just a hint of a racing heritage. Marketing Director, Stuart King explains, “Turf Legends is a recognized clothing brand amongst racegoers, the time is now right to expand our range to become a universally recognized, quality fashion brand for everybody to enjoy wearing.”

The Classic Colours Collection has proven to be a popular seller on the High Street and Turf Legends is looking to increase the number of retailers offering the brand. Stuart concedes that the current economic climate meant that the company had launched “a little cautiously” but adds “we probably could have launched with a little more noise, however ensuring that we laid solid foundations before embarking on our expansion plans has pretty much guaranteed the longevity of the brand and the future of our business”

“Our original mission was to create a brand for the disenfranchised racegoer, all other major sports have identifiable clothing ranges - Rugby, Football and even Sailing. We quickly cottoned on that many people were buying our clothes because they loved the style and colour, the racing connection was only a minor consideration for them, and we soon discovered that our original concept was far larger than we could have imagined”

Appropriately Turf Legends’ Head Office is in Cheltenham, considered to be the home of National Hunt racing. Coincidentally Cheltenham is also the home of Super Group, one of the fashion industry phenomenon’s of the last decade and the powerhouse behind the Superdry brand. In closing, Stuart acknowledges, “If we get anywhere near as globally recognized as either of these two brands we will have achieved an outstanding success”. To coin a racing phrase, the odds are shortening all the time.
