LONDON, August 3, 2011 -

- The UK’s roadside restaurant chain will use MICROS technology in its new concept sites that offer a grab-and-go retail service, sandwich deli, and table service.

MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, is pleased to announce that Little Chef has selected the MICROS Restaurant Enterprise Solution (RES) to provide fast, flexible service to customers in its new concept sites. Little Chef, which serves over 20 million hungry travelers every year, is piloting the new concept at 10 restaurants, offering customers a grab-and-go retail service, sandwich deli, and full table service.

In addition to utilizing MICROS RES as a complete point-of-sale solution to support the retail, restaurant, and deli services, Little Chef is also utilizing MICROS Kitchen Display Systems to provide real-time information for efficient kitchen management, and Mobile MICROS handheld devices to allow rapid table-side ordering in the restaurant and queue busting flexibility in the Good to Go deli. Business intelligence is optimized with the web-based mymicros.net solution, and the MICROS myinventory enables efficient stock management across multiple locations as well as within individual sites. To complete the offering, the MICROS Enterprise Management Bureau supports the centralized configuration and management of menus across the estate.

“We’re very excited about our new concept sites and their ability to serve the needs of hungry travelers on the go,” said Chris Andrewartha, IT Director at Little Chef. “Having MICROS as a partner gives us the confidence that the restaurant technology will meet our customers’ individual needs and enable us to deliver a fantastic customer experience.”

“It is exciting to see Little Chef testing fresh ideas and formats,” commented Matthew Parker, Director of Sales at MICROS. “We’re delighted to be part of this new strategic initiative and we are looking forward to partnering with Little Chef to make it a success.”

About Little Chef

The first Little Chef opened in Reading in 1958, with just 11 seats. Today, the business is one of the UK’s most popular roadside restaurant chains, with over 160 restaurants up and down the country. Following the first new concept restaurants at Popham, Kettering West and York (featured on the TV series Big Chef Takes on Little Chef), ten more restaurants have recently undergone the 21st century makeover. Not only do the new restaurants offer a fantastic menu that you can sit down and enjoy in a contemporary new interior, but they also offer a range of delicious foods that you can grab on the go.
