BOLTON, England - Parcel2Go.com is anticipating a sales increase of GBP50,000 in just one day as Londoners seek alternative parcel delivery ahead of Friday’s Royal Mail strike.

More than 300,000 businesses and 8.5 million residents across London will be affected by the strike and already Parcel2Go is reaping the rewards with a 72 per cent increase in online enquiries so far from in and around London.

According to a business forecast pulled together by Britain’s biggest online delivery service, this Friday’s strike may cost Royal Mail GBP2million in lost business.

Their loss will be Parcel2go’s gain in the battle between parcel delivery and those who rely on an efficient postal service.

Fil Adams-Mercer, managing director of Parcel2go, said: “Businesses have no right to hold their customers to ransom. But if they choose to do this, we will be waiting to provide them with the service they need.

“There has been an incredible response to this proposed strike, both businesses and residents have made sure they are not inconvenienced and have made other arrangements.

“This is not a short-term win for us either. We have statistics to show that once people have used Parcel2go they become repeat customers and we don’t strike, in fact the opposite. Our customers are always compensated for any inconveniences, which we try to avoid at all cost.”

Post office strike rumours across the UK during Christmas last year boosted the first quarter turnover of the online delivery company by 50 per cent as customers abandoned Royal Mail.

This mass switch helped take the company revenue to close on GBP11million.

Notes to editors:

www.parcel2go.com has struck partnerships with the world’s leading delivery companies, including FedEx, DHL, UPS and City Link in order to offer customers a cheaper and more flexible parcel service.

Entrepreneur Richard Adams-Mercer launched Parcel2go.com with his father, Fil, in 2000 when he was still only 19.
