Highlights of the auction include a collection of material formerly in the Salomon Collection, Paris which was dispersed at Auction at Parke-Bernet Galleries, New York in 1949. Illustrated in British, French, and Israeli publications in the 1920s, 30s and 40s, the items have not been seen in the marketplace since the 1949 auction and present a remarkable group of 18th and 19th century European Judaica. Featured among the collection is lot 178, a rare and important silver and silver gilt Synagogue Ark-form Hanukkah lamp, originating in Brody, and dated 1787. Related lamps are in the collections of the Jewish Museum, New York, The Israel Museum, Jerusalem, and the Jewish Museum in London.
