Study Shows That Online Daters Avoid Advertising Political Views on Profiles

A survey from an American university has revealed that many people exclude their political preferences whilst dating online.

Findings published in the journal “Evolution and Human Behavior” show that politics do not play an important role in bringing people together and that in fact, only 14% of online daters even include political interests on their profiles.

The study, titled “Do bedroom eyes wear political glasses?” by professor Casey Klofstad at the University of Miami and co-authors, found that many online daters would rather admit to being overweight than share their political views.

The research was collected from almost 3,000 profiles from over 300 randomly selected dating sites in 2009.

The fact that daters looking for their perfect partner online are more likely to confess to being a bit plump than acknowledge which government party they support, shows that online singles shun the politics of dating and that ultimately politics are a turn-off due to the controversial topic.
