The Astellas European Foundation Supports International Health Partners Relief Work in Haiti

STAINES, England, January 20 - In response to the earthquake in Haiti the Astellas European Foundation
(AEF) has announced that it is providing financial support to the
International Health Partners (IHP) to help supply donated medicines for use
in the devastated country. The donation will aid the provision of medicines
to NGOs (non-governmental organisations) and government-run clinics and
hospitals in the areas most affected in and around Port-au-Prince, the
capital of Haiti.

The AEF is committed to respond to major global catastrophes with
humanitarian aid and disaster relief support. This donation strengthens the
AEF's relationship with IHP following a donation made last year for the
supply of comprehensive portable packs. Each pack contains 45 different
medicines and contributed towards the treatment of up to 1,000 children and
adults in health clinics and hospitals in Eastern Europe and Africa.

IHP, established in 2004, is a charitable organisation which aims to
provide free medical aid to the world's most needy people. It brings together
five different stakeholder groups: government, the medical community, the
pharmaceutical industry, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and corporate
social responsibility partners, making it an entirely new kind of
public-private partnership.

Astellas Pharma Inc. and Astellas Pharma US Inc. have also contributed to
the Haiti appeal via donations to the Japanese Red Cross and the American Red
Cross.
