The Future of European Gas Infrastructure - Inge Bernaerts from the European Commission Gives her Views on the Target Model for Europe

Inge Bernaerts, along with Anne-Sophie Corbeau from the International Energy Agency, will discuss Europe’s future gas infrastructure requirements at Gastech Specialist Events, European Gas Infrastructure for Interconnectivity and Interoperability Forum taking place in Rome on 29 November - 1 December 2011.

They will examine the crucial issues facing Europe’s future gas market, with a special focus on commercial, strategic, and political developments, along with the European Commission’s Baltic Energy Market Interconnection Plan (BEMIP) and the aims for gas infrastructure development to support supply requirements for decades to come.

Speaking alongside Inge and Anne-Sophie are over 40 industry experts including:
Carlo Crea , Chairman of the VWG Security of Supply (SoS); International Confederation of Energy Regulators; Rocío Prieto , Deputy Director, Gas Directorate, Spanish National Energy Commission; Dr Peter Poptchev , Ambassador at large for Energy Security - National Coordinator for the Nabucco Project, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bulgaria and Francisco P. de la Flor , Director de Regulation, Enagás SA & President, GLE and many more leading industry stakeholders.

Amongst many other crucial topics, the programme faculty will be discussing Third Energy Package ; a streamlined, interconnected and competitive gas market; assessing essential requirements for overcoming challenges to making transit pipelines a reality ; understanding the impact of new gas infrastructure development on trading and pricing and assessing the role of gas storage in enhancing market flexibility .
