New Functionality Helps Health and Nutrition Leader Streamline Manufacturing and Financial Processes

Redwood Shores, Calif. – February 03, 2011

News Facts

To increase operational efficiency across its global business units, USANA Health Sciences, a developer and manufacturer of high-quality nutritionals, personal care, energy and weight management products, has upgraded to the Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1 (www.oracle.com/us/products/applications/ebusiness/index.html) .
By upgrading to the Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1, USANA has been able to unify discrete and process manufacturing inventories and streamline processes by taking advantage of new functionality across a comprehensive suite of business applications.
With operations spanning 14 countries, USANA needed an advanced, flexible enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform that could streamline processes and facilitate compliance with U.S. Food and Drug (FDA) and Australia Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) guidelines on nutritional supplements.
Oracle’s Demantra Demand Management (www.oracle.com/us/products/applications/ebusiness/planning/053289.html) applications, working together with the increased visibility delivered by the Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1, has enabled USANA to more closely match supply to demand, reducing the cost of managing manufacturing processes by delivering forecast accuracy of up to 96 percent.
By leveraging Oracle’s Agile Product Lifecycle Management (www.oracle.com/us/products/applications/agile/index.html) (PLM) with the latest version of the Oracle E-Business Suite, USANA has been able to simplify compliance with the U.S. FDA and Australia TGA guidelines by improving document management through electronic signoff and improved versioning control.
Additionally, new capabilities within Oracle E-Business Suite Financials (www.oracle.com/us/products/applications/ebusiness/financials/053262.html)  have allowed the USANA team to avoid significant problems with financial reporting by automating, centralizing and standardizing global transactional processes.
Completed on time and under budget, the USANA team managed the upgrade to the latest version of the Oracle E-Business Suite internally, using Oracle Support (www.oracle.com/us/support/index.html) to manage risk and increase IT productivity and Oracle Tutor (www.oracle.com/us/products/applications/tutor-upk/index.html) to help facilitate user training.
USANA’s future plans include implementing Oracle Hyperion (www.oracle.com/us/solutions/ent-performance-bi/hyperion-financial-management-066534.html) for improved financial planning and budgeting and Oracle Manufacturing Execution Systems (download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B34956_01/current/acrobat/120gmomesug.pdf) to further automate processes on the shop floor.
USANA will share the success they have had since 2009 using the Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1 at the Oracle Applications Virtual Tradeshow (bit.ly/gbcPVZ) on Thursday, February 3, 2011.
