WASHINGTON, August 9, 2011 -
More than 2.2 billion people, nearly a third (32%) of the world's total population of 6.9 billion, live in countries where either government restrictions on religion or social hostilities involving religion rose substantially between mid-2006 and mid-2009, according to a new study on global restrictions on religion released today by the Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life.
WASHINGTON, January 27, 2011 - The world's Muslim population is expected to increase by about 35% in the
next 20 years, rising from 1.6 billion in 2010 to 2.2 billion by 2030,
according to a new, comprehensive report released today by the Pew Research
Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life (www.pewforum.org/) on the
size, distribution and growth of the Muslim population.
WASHINGTON, April 15, 2010 - The vast majority of people in many sub-Saharan African nations are
deeply committed to one or the other of the world's two largest religions,
Christianity and Islam, and yet many continue to practice elements of
traditional African religions.
