CROWTHORNE, England - Electrone Group, www.electrone.com, today launches the Electrone 720 PoE keypad - it’s first available Power over Ethernet keypad. The low cost IP addressable device is equipped with a 2×16 LCD character display and a 17-key arrangement allowing users to communicate directly with the web IP keypad via the internet giving the benefit and flexibility of bi-directional internet communication at very low costs.
The 720 alpha/numeric web IP keypad, tinyurl.com/d6obbx is an extension of the 720 model range which already includes USB, RS232 and TCP/IP versions. This new PoE version needs no separate power supply as it draws its power from its Ethernet connection. The availability of the Electrone Group low cost IP addressable device is immediate, with distribution throughout the United States as well as all over Europe and the rest of the world. With deployments already around the globe in a wide range of applications, the keypad gives the flexibility required for any web-based service.
Stuart Thorn, CEO of the Electrone Group tinyurl.com/c8tonu comments, “The practical and economical Electrone 720 PoE, as a Power over Ethernet keypad with either client or server modes available, opens up a new universe of web-based services. Resellers and integrators will find this device can solve a wide variety of network communication problems. The keypad’s on-board memory allows settings to be adjusted either prior to shipping or remotely over the Internet once on site. This completely removes the need to send engineers around the world for installation.”
Thorn continues, “Once the web IP keypad is installed it can phone home to host applications and connect back to your server. The bi-directional communication makes this product more like a terminal than a standard keypad. This concept is just one example of the many possibilities available using this keypad. We expect the Electrone 720 IP, especially the Power over Ethernet (PoE) model, to be used for a diverse range of solutions.”
As a current example of the capability of the Electrone 720, one of Electrone Group’s customers is using the 720 numeric keypad for an automated online printing solution. Their users can print documents from hotels across the globe by accessing a website and then simply printing using a pin code in the hotel lobby’s web IP keypad. Additional wipe clean models are available suitable for harsh, dirty or dusty environments such as schools, hospitals and industrial sites.
Other customers include the British Gymnastics Associations, Meat Processing Systems (MPS) in the Netherlands and DNEX Printing in Sweden.
