- EICC Membership Helps Pace Drive Ethics and Responsibility Across
Supply Chain
Pace plc today announced that it has become a member of the Electronic
Industry Citizen Coalition (EICC), which promotes a global electronics
industry code of conduct to improve working and environmental conditions
across the supply chain. As a member of the EICC, Pace will collaborate with
partners, suppliers and others in the industry to ensure high environmental,
ethical and people standards.
Established in 2004, the EICC promotes better conditions for all those
involved in the Electronics and ICT supply chain, including improved
surroundings for workers, economic development, a cleaner local environment
and increased productivity. To achieve this, the EICC reduces duplication
across the industry, focusing collective efforts to drive positive social and
environmental change, builds supply chain capabilities in social
responsibility, and facilitates stakeholder feedback. As a Coalition member,
Pace will help develop high standards of conduct and supporting procedures,
and will consistently apply these across its supply chain.
David McKinney, Chief Operating Officer of Pace, said: "For Pace,
ensuring high standards of conduct across our supply chain is a higher
priority than ever before, both ethically and to ensure our continued growth.
Our customers require visibility and responsibility from their suppliers and
so we in turn must ask the same of our partners and suppliers.
"Becoming a member of the EICC makes perfect sense for Pace. We believe
that by working as a collective, we can achieve far more than we would
individually and we look forward to working with our suppliers to drive high
industry standards forward over the coming months and years."
Pace's membership of the EICC helps the company to further develop its
corporate responsibility programme, which includes pioneering work in
establishing environmental standards and sustainable product development. As
a member, Pace commits to following the EICC code of conduct in its own
operations and will progressively implement the EICC approach and tools in
the spirit of the industry's common goals. As initial steps, Pace will apply
the EICC code of conduct to its first tier suppliers, monitoring its
application using EICC practices and tools, and encouraging and supporting
suppliers to do the same.
