Launching the competition in December 2010, the world was asked by Bombay
Sapphire to demonstrate their imagination by submitting ideas including
drawings and poems, to be used as the inspiration for the Bombay Sapphire 3D
spectacular projection. Facebook fans selected their favourite - from a
global shortlist spanning from the UK to Australia. The lucky winner, Erjola
Veliaj from Albania was the clear victor chosen by Facebook followers.
Working with some of the world's best creatives to inspire the 3D
spectacular projection, Erjola saw her imagination become a reality today
with the final vision being incorporated into the Bombay Sapphire projections
which transformed Battersea Power Station, the iconic London landmark on the
bank of the river Thames.
Erjola's winning concept saw Battersea Power Station 'power up' to
create a spectacle of powerful imagination. The iconic building was lit up in
a rainbow of changing colours reflecting the bold, square lines. Spectators
were then shown a cool blue world of imagination inside the building, which
reflected vibrantly in the water of the Thames. Set to music, the projection
captivated and impressed the audience. Visit facebook.com/bombaysapphire to
view the projection in full.
Erjola says, "I was so pleased to win the competition and seeing my idea
brought to life tonight is fantastic. It looks better than I could have ever
imagined."
John Burke, Bombay Sapphire Global Category Director, says, "Bombay
Sapphire has long had imagination at its heart and through this competition
we have been able to inspire imagination in others, something we are keen to
continue."
Bombay Sapphire invited guests from around the world to view the
projection from the luxury of The Silver Sturgeon, the flagship vessel of the
lavish Silver Fleet. Floating on the Thames sipping imaginative Bombay
Sapphire cocktails gave the perfect viewpoint of this stunning piece of work.
Since its creation, Bombay Sapphire has taken an imaginative approach to
gin making - one of the secrets to its success. It is based on a 1761 recipe
created by pioneering English distiller Thomas Dakin. Dakin's recipe and
sophisticated distilling methods signalled a new era of quality for gin. In
fact, Bombay Sapphire continues to be made using a Carterhead still purchased
by the Dakin family in 1831, the perfect vessel to create an artisan product.
Bombay Sapphire was also the first premium gin to showcase the importance
of botanicals, which are hand-selected from exotic locations around the
world. These botanicals, along with the brand's signature Vapour Infusion
process, create the tantalizing, smooth and complex taste that is Bombay
Sapphire.
When launching the "Project Your Imagination" competition last
December, Bombay Sapphire demonstrated their own imagination before inviting
Facebook fans to share theirs.
The cutting edge 3D projection morphed London's Old Royal Naval College
into a Sapphire blue ocean sea creatures motivated by the building's naval
history. Visit www.youtube.com/bombaysapphire to view the film.
