Interim Managers Seize Business Growth Opportunities Abroad

LONDON - As business growth (www.impactexecutives.com/challenges/business-growth.html) opportunities shift beyond Europe, interim management professional, Clive Sexton, gives the pros and cons of moving abroad to work.

Joined by Carol Rosati and Rob Grimsey of Harvey Nash, Clive discusses the reasons why people choose to move abroad, “There are many reasons for people to move abroad, everything from a secondment to gaining international experience, a lifestyle rethink, which is very popular at the moment, or sometimes because the next role is the only one available overseas.”

From a practical perspective, the relocation process requires extensive planning and research. One of the easiest routes is relocating with a current employer. The next best option is to utilise your own contacts, ideally within the country of your choice, or contact local interim management (www.impactexecutives.com) providers within that country.

However, working abroad isn’t for everyone, as Clive explains, “I know a number of people who have moved out to Dubai in the recent months and it hasn’t worked with the culture of Dubai and that part of the world hasn’t worked for them. You are left in a distant place wondering how to get home and whether there is a job waiting for you at home.”

Clive’s top tip is to talk to other people who have relocated abroad. It is also vital to do your research as relocations require careful planning, so it may be worthwhile visiting the country before you make your choice.
