Operational Enhancements and Contemporary Technical Platform Reduce Total Cost of Ownership for Communications Service Providers
Redwood Shores, CA – May 18, 2011
News Facts
Oracle today announced the availability of Oracle Communications MetaSolv Solution 6.2 (www.oracle.com/us/industries/communications/communications-metasolv-solution-398151.html) with key enhancements to more efficiently enable communications service providers (CSPs) to launch and deliver services, as well as provision and manage their network infrastructure at a lower total cost of ownership.
Oracle Communications MetaSolv Solution – which is deployed by more than 70 CSPs worldwide – maintains a rich inventory of services and resources spanning multiple technology domains. Integrated with this inventory is support for retail ordering. The application regulates inter-carrier ordering with specific support for U.S. regulated ordering standards and engineering ordering to streamline and automate the provisioning process. It also provides integrated trouble management capabilities with a holistic view of customers, their services and trouble tickets.
Oracle Communications MetaSolv Solution 6.2 introduces support for Oracle Linux 5 (www.oracle.com/us/technologies/linux/index.html) and Red Hat Linux as lower cost deployment options as well as Oracle Solaris 10 (www.oracle.com/us/products/servers-storage/solaris/index.html?origref=www.google.com/search?q=Oracle+Solaris+10&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a) , IBM AIX 6.1 and HP-UX 11.3i. The new release also supports the latest Oracle technologies including Oracle WebLogic Server 11g (www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/overview/index.html) , Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition (www.oracle.com/us/products/database/enterprise-edition/index.html) and Oracle Real Application Clusters (www.oracle.com/us/products/database/options/real-application-clusters/index.html) for improved application performance and resiliency. This contemporary and consistent technical platform enables easier integration with other Oracle and third party applications.
Release 6.2 simplifies the delivery of complex IP services with improved network design automation. It includes security enhancements and customizable, logical inventory data partitioning – enabling CSPs to partition their network inventory by specific geographies and lines of business. It also provides new application programming interfaces (APIs) to simplify integration with other Oracle Communications applications – such as Oracle Communications Network Integrity (www.oracle.com/us/industries/communications/communications-network-integrity-071874.html) – to support network discovery and reconciliation.
Service providers can deploy Oracle Communications MetaSolv Solution on a stand-alone basis or integrate it with complementary Oracle Communications applications in the Oracle Communications Converged Fulfillment for Business Services (www.oracle.com/us/industries/communications/046866.html) suite for service order management, network planning and network discovery and reconciliation for network resource management.
