Oracle WebLogic Server 11g Running on Dell Beats IBM WebSphere on a Similar Configuration

Today, Oracle announced that Oracle® WebLogic Server 11g (www.oracle.com/appserver/index.html) , a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g (www.oracle.com/us/products/middleware/index.htm) , together with Oracle Database 11g (www.oracle.com/database/index.html) Release 2 running on a Dell server set a new record result for a four processor system with the SPECjEnterprise2010 industry standard benchmark (1).
Oracle® WebLogic Server 11g coupled with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 beat the best IBM WebSphere result with IBM DB2 9.7 on this benchmark, using the same number of processors (2).
Both the Application Server and Database Server were running Oracle Linux (www.oracle.com/us/technologies/linux/index.html) .

Benchmark Details

The result, delivered on a Dell PowerEdge 910 server with four, ten-core Intel® Xeon® processors E7-4870 2.4 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, outperformed IBM WebSphere running on a similar configuration by more than 60 percent.
The record result achieved 11,946.60 SPECjEnterprise2010 EjOPS, recording the highest EjOPS per core and per processor of any SPECjEnterprise2010 result to date - showcasing the superior performance and scalability of Oracle® WebLogic Server.
SPECjEnterprise2010 is a Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE)-based industry standard benchmark, which tests an end-to-end technology infrastructure that includes server hardware, Java Virtual Machine (JVM), database, operating system, storage and network subsystems.
With this result, Oracle WebLogic Server now holds the overall world record (3) and fastest performance for a 4-processor system with the SPECjEnterprise2010 benchmark in addition to delivering the highest performance per core and per processor of any result ever published with this benchmark.
