Prevx Included in 2009 Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms

DERBY, England - Cyber Security company Prevx today announces its position as a niche player in the highly-respected Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms. The quadrant is prepared over some time and evaluates a variety of criteria, taking into account a vendor’s ability to execute, alongside their overall completeness of vision.
Prevx have recently consolidated its class-leading protection into a unified product set under the Prevx 3.0 banner, supporting the security needs of enterprise, SMBs, consumers, banks and e-commerce businesses. Prevx 3.0 can be used as a standalone security solution or alongside existing security products to provide even higher levels of protection against what Gartner calls ‘the surging volume of new threats’ against which standard anti-malware signature engines are rapidly losing effectiveness.
The report states ‘There continues to be a dramatic increase in the volume of unique malware, due to the maturity of the malware development industry and the increased use of automated “toolkits” for malware development. The ability of signature-based systems to catch new and/or targeted malware is declining.’ It also adds ‘To address the increasing velocity of malware, some EPP vendors are adding some form of client queries directly to an “in the cloud” master-signature database for unknown, suspicious files.
The proliferation of this type of malware is having a profound effect on the end-user. Not only are large enterprises and government agencies experiencing a huge increase in their exposure to risk from information stealing Trojans and other malware, but consumers are also having bank, credit card and personal identity details stolen in ever increasing quantities.
Mel Morris, CEO of Prevx said, “We believe our inclusion in the Gartner Endpoint Magic Quadrant helps enterprises understand our ‘defense in depth’ positioning. Prevx has championed the cloud based approach to malware surveillance and detection for five years.
“The relevance and scalability of our technology, our ability to detect rootkits and ‘early life’ malware, our class-leading scan speed and ultra-light footprint and our ability to interoperate with end-point technologies from other leading vendors, all help us stand out. Prevx enables enterprises and governments to rapidly boost their malware defenses at a time when existing endpoint protection capabilities are proving woefully inadequate.”
