LONDON, December 8 - The Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters hosted its first annual

the Thomson Reuters team. In October, Thomson Reuters announced the
acquisition of the Abacus Enterprise suite of products and related business
operations from Deloitte LLP.
"Our goal for the Abacus User Conference - the first we've hosted - is to
ensure Abacus clients understand that our strategy at Tax & Accounting is
predicated on building and supporting superior products to help our U.K.
customers," said Roy M. Martin, Jr., President and CEO of Tax & Accounting.
"We will seamlessly link these products to our global offerings through
ONESOURCE, our web-based corporate tax portals to empower those customers who
stretch beyond the borders of the U.K. to integrate their local and global
tax compliance and planning."
More than 200 attendees were able to choose among six breakout sessions,

In addition to the Breakout Sessions, a Q&A Panel of top industry and

Customer and Stakeholder Engagement for Carter Programme, HMRC; Carmel Moore,
partner, Tax Performance Advisory Group for Ernst & Young; Conrad Young,
partner, Tax Transformation, Risk, and Co-sourcing for Deloitte; and Tom

What are the obstacles? - The role of technology for the senior accounting officer: how does technology work within SAO rules and what should the SAO know about the technology his team deploys? - Data Hosting: The U.S. is trending toward more offsite hosting of clients datum by tax software providers - will the European market follow? - Globalization & Offshoring: what impact will this have on tax practitioners? How has the Shared Service Center changed the landscape over the past five years? Were expectations met?
"We are delighted so many of our valued clients and partner firms
attended the event," said Mike Roberts, managing director of the Abacus
