Two credit cards on each account boost potential Flying Club mile accrual rates
Teaming up with MBNA, Virgin Atlantic this week launches two new credit card accounts for customers in the UK.
The new Virgin Atlantic Credit Card accounts from MBNA offer new customers two contactless-enabled cards on the same account, one American Express-branded credit card and one Visa credit card.
New customers will still have just one account and one credit limit; however, the two credit cards expand customers’ opportunities to build a greater number of flying club miles even faster when they spend almost anywhere in the world.
The Virgin Atlantic Black Credit Card Account includes an £140 annual fee and, once accepted, new customers will receive 6,000 bonus flying club miles[1], plus double miles on all spend directly with Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays.
For all purchases, new Virgin Atlantic customers can earn two flying club miles for every £1 spent with their Virgin Atlantic American Express® credit card from MBNA, or one flying club mile for every £1 spent with their Virgin AtlanticVisa credit card.
The Virgin Atlantic Black credit card has a representative rate of 47.2% APR (variable).
The Virgin Atlantic White Credit Card Account has no annual fee and, once accepted; new customers will receive 3,000 bonus flying club miles[1], plus double miles on all spend directly with Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays.
For all purchases, new customers can earn one flying club mile for every £1 spent with their Virgin Atlantic American Express® credit card from MBNA, or one flying club mile for every £2 spent with their Virgin Atlantic Visa credit card.
Both of the new credit card accounts offer 0% on balance and money transfers for the first 6 months, as long as they are made within 90 days of the account opening date (a 3% handling fee applies to both).
The Virgin Atlantic White credit card has a representative rate of 17.9% APR (variable).
Virgin Atlantic spokesman Alan Lias said: “We’ve already successfully converted more than 90,000 of our existing customer base to the new Virgin Atlantic account and now we are opening up the opportunities for new customers to also maximise the value of the Flying Club miles when they spend.”
Matt Boss, Product and Marketing Executive for MBNA, said: “The innovative approach we have taken with these new Virgin Atlantic credit card accounts allows customers to earn flying club miles when they spend almost anywhere in the world.
“Together, MBNA and Virgin Atlantic are opening up the opportunities for new customers to maximise the value of the rewards on their credit cards and we are delighted to have teamed up with Virgin Atlantic to develop a product that provides real added value for customers.”
