New data warehouse system extracts more value out of ticketing and revenue data, and enables deeper profit analysis

Seoul, Korea - December 14, 2009

News Facts

Asiana Airlines, a major airline in South Korea, can now predict demand for flights up to 120 days in advance thanks to its new data warehouse system called the Asiana Revenue Management Supporting System (ARMS).
Built on Oracle Database, Oracle Partitioning, Oracle Warehouse Builder and Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition, the ARMS data warehouse is capable of generating detailed analysis from large volumes of information drawn from a range of systems.
The ARMS system delivers five major functions for Asiana Airlines:
improved forecasting accuracy up to 120 days in advance,
access to real-time flight information,
deeper analysis on region specific reservations, demand for stopover versus direct journeys, and bookings from travel agents,
occupancy data based on route, class, and point of origin to optimize flights and promote low-demand destinations, and
flight-specific profitability and opportunity costs of empty or overbooked flights.
The new ARMS system allows every employee to gain role-based access to the information they need to make quick and informed decisions.
Asiana engaged Asiana IDT to implement the Oracle solution.
