Banco Santander Chile Announces Filing of Form 20-F with the SEC

SANTIAGO, Chile -
Banco Santander Chile (NYSE: SAN) filed its Annual Report on Form 20-F for the year ended December 31, 2008, with the Securities and Exchange Commission (”SEC”). The 2008 Form 20-F includes audited consolidated financial statements of Banco Santander Chile and its subsidiaries at December 31, 2007 and 2008, and for the years ended December 31, 2006, 2007 and 2008 under Chilean GAAP, including a reconciliation of Chilean GAAP to U.S. GAAP for net income and shareholders’ equity.

INSTITUTIONAL BACKGROUND
As per the latest public records published by the Chilean Superintendency of Banks for May 2009, Banco Santander Chile was the largest bank in Chile in terms of loans. The stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: SAN) and the Santiago Stock Exchange (SSE: Bsantander). The Bank’s main shareholder is Banco Santander, which controls 76.91% of Banco Santander Chile.
