International Conference on the Role of Banks as Part of the Future Growth Model for Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe

VIENNA, August 26, 2010 - The Federal Ministry of Finance is organising the international
conference "Beyond the Vienna Initiative: Towards a New Banking Model in a
New Growth Model for CESEE", to be held on 17 September 2010. The aim of the
conference is to focus the attention of the relevant persons for the
necessary changes in the financial sector over the coming decade, notably but
not only, in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.****

After the opening by Finance Minister Josef Pröll, the morning session
offers exciting keynote presentations by OECD General Secretary Angel Gurría
and EBRD President Thomas Mirow, each followed by two distinguished panels
debating the subjects of "The Causes of the Crisis and the Subsequent
Management" and "The Options for Provision of the Financial Resources Needed
for Growth and Structural Change".

The afternoon session under the chairmanship of Polish Central Bank
President Marek Belka will see numerous finance ministers from Central,
Eastern and Southeastern Europe discussing common solutions for an
international finance policy and then drawing their respective conclusions.
