LONDON, November 26 - TV Dragon Deborah Meaden, Bebo Founder Michael Birch and business advice
site Smarta.com have joined forces in a nationwide search for the UK's
smartest businesses. Scaling the length and breadth of the country, the
Smarta 100 inaugural listing will discover and celebrate super smart small
businesses that are traditionally overlooked.
Smarta and their panel of top entrepreneurs (which also includes Pimlico
Plumber founder Charlie Mullins, Coffee Republic founder Sahar Hashemi and
Smarta founder Sháá Wasmund) are looking for businesses doing something
unique or disruptive, innovating in traditional industries, using efficient
and ethical operating practices or making a special contribution to their
community.
The Smarta 100 will be interviewed and showcased on Smarta.com (which
already features over 700 videos of the UK's leading entrepreneurs) so that
other businesses can be inspired by and learn from their experiences.
Smarta supporter Deborah Meaden said: "Discovering great new businesses
is a passion of mine as is encouraging businesses to think and work better.
The Smarta 100 does both of these things - and celebrates the best of British
business at the same time."
The criteria are simple - businesses must be privately owned, trading in
the UK and employ fewer than 50 people. From November 25th, Smarta will be
inviting entries from "smart" British businesses. The Smarta 100 will be
announced in February 2010 when an exclusive event will be held for the final
list. Go to www.smarta.com/smarta100 to learn more.
