BOSTON, October 24, 2011 -
Eagle Investment Systems LLC, a leading provider of financial services technology and a subsidiary of BNY Mellon, today announced it has released two white papers on key areas affecting the investment management industry.
The first white paper, “Investment Portfolio Data Management,” was authored by D. Terry Jenkins, principal analyst at Eagle. The paper discusses how the investment management industry faces unique and complex data management challenges with the management of Investment Portfolios. There are special requirements for data enrichment and the efficient management of high volumes of information which are best handled by systems and practices specifically designed to address these needs. The paper examines the Investment Portfolio Data Management process and defines the characteristics of the industry. It also examines the particular implications for Investment Portfolios and illustrates how a better understanding of these processes can help firms direct their data management resources and programs toward goals of efficiency, compliance and growth.
The second white paper, “OTC Clearing,” was written by Kishore Saokar, Partner, Vega Investment Technologies in conjunction with Eagle’s product management team. This paper illustrates how the current progress of implementing OTC derivatives regulations varies widely from country to country. It offers readers a framework to analyze their readiness to process OTC cleared swaps and provides high-level guidelines and steps that Eagle and Vega believe are necessary for successful adoption. Additionally, the paper describes the challenges that should be addressed while the regulations are being finalized, and it details the idiosyncrasies of processing instruments currently supported by some clearing houses. Finally, it provides some of the key characteristics for evaluating a system that supports the processing of OTC clearing products.
