Educational Export of UAS Krems: Austrian Courses of Study are Initiated in Oman

KREMS, Austria, November 15, 2010 - The first Arab-European university model in the Middle East, the
structural and academic installation of which IMC UAS Krems was an essential
part, was initiated on 6th November 2010 after a lead time of approximately
one year and a half. The ceremonial opening took place with 500 Arab and
European partners attending.
The University of Buraimi in the north of Oman is the biggest educational
export of Austria amounting to a total capacity of EU 40m. Under the
consortium, management of IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, the
University of Vienna, the Vienna University of Technology, the University of
Applied Sciences Campus Wien and the University of Bradford took part in the
development of the University of Buraimi.
A few days ago the courses of study officially started with almost 400
students. As of 2011 two Bachelor degree programmes modeled on the programmes
in Krems will be offered: "Business Administration and E-Business Management"
and "Export-Oriented Management". At the completed expansion stage about
10,000 students are expected to be accommodated to read engineering, health
and business sciences.
The Vice-Chancellor is the Austrian Management expert Johann Günther.
"The top priority is to establish an international university as a role
model, in which the European world and the Arab world have an equal share,"
says Günther. In this educational transfer the President of the IMC UAS Krems
Heinz Boyer and the Head of the International Department Karl Ennsfellner see
the consistent international orientation of the UAS Krems.
The IMC UAS Krems is situated in Austria's Wachau Cultural Landscape in
Lower Austria, which is regarded as a UNESCO heritage site. With its 90
partner universities, students from over 50 countries around the world and
close links with the business world and industry, the UAS Krems counts among
the best interconnected universities in Europe.
