FRANKFURT - Food ingredients Europe (FiE) opened for registration today, announced UBM International Media, the global trade show organiser. The 2009 edition, 17-19 November in Frankfurt, is the 10th in the European series of food and beverage ingredients trade exhibitions (www.ingredientsnetwork.com/). This year over 1100 exhibitors are expected, taking up over 25,000m2 of floor space at the Frankfurt Messe exhibition centre.

The exhibition looks to grow on its last edition, 2007 in London. “It has been a roller coaster year for everyone so far,” comments Greg Cherry, Exhibitions Director. “Despite this, however, many of our key exhibitors’ ingredients profit centers had bumper years in 2008 and look to continue doing so in 2009.”
This year the exhibition will focus on industry trends, including sodium, sugar and fat reduction, cost control via global sourcing, product reformulation, satiety enhancers and texture enhancers, plus “Food +”, the emerging industry category referring to supplements, vitamin additives and the like. These will manifest in features on the show floor and will organise relevant scientific content, product information and networking opportunities so FiE attendees can easily access the resources they are seeking.
The strategy is in response to the industry indicating they were looking for tailored accessible content, according to Parry Malm, Marketing Manager. “There are dozens if not hundreds of events in the marketplace, not to mention the internet. With this year being the most unpredictable of most people’s lifetimes, our unwavering mission is to deliver high value experiences that produce demonstrable business benefit to exhibitors and visitors alike.”
There are numerous new initiatives at the exhibition this year. First, there are 120 first time exhibitors with products covering nearly every ingredient category, from beverage to bakery, confectionery to supplements, and all points in between. Second, an exclusive Business Club has been launched, providing top industry executives with special access to the exhibition, information and exhibitors. Third, the exhibition will feature more expert-led content than ever before, split between the co-located conference, exhibitor seminar sessions, and on-the-floor presentations focusing on key industry themes. “And that’s not it,” comments Malm, “More shall be revealed as we approach the show.”
For the second time FiE will be joined by Natural ingredients (ni.ingredientsnetwork.com/), a growing exhibition focused on the naturals industry. “By delivering exhibitors for multiple verticals within our sector, FiE will provide tremendous business benefit to visitors and exhibitors alike,” says Cherry.
