Forget what you’re ‘told’ about High Point Fall Furniture Market, come mid-October - a globe-trotting furniture mogul, his hard-wired business partner and a rebel designer who helped make conscious design a password for sustainability and profitability are about to shake up the industry.
And it’s going to take Four Hands to launch it!
Four Hands, world-renowned global manufacturer and wholesaler of home furnishings, chosen for three years by Inc. Magazine as one of the Top 500 Fastest Growing Companies, is teaming up with eco conscious designer, Thomas Bina, entering into an agreement to create a new subsidiary company of Four Hands to be called bina. The announcement was made today by Brett Hatton, enterprising founder and CEO of Four Hands, and Matthew Briggs, president and partner of the Austin, Texas-based manufacturing/wholesale powerhouse.
Four Hands will distribute, promote, and manufacture new lines under the bina brand, kicking off with the acclaimed designer’s debut furniture collection, set to premier at the High Point Fall Market in High Point, NC, October 17-22, 2009. The anticipated collection will be featured as the exclusive capstone event of Four Hands’ highly regarded showroom experience.
Long range plans for the innovatively tailored venture include Thomas Bina and Four Hands working in tandem to promote and distribute subsequent furniture lines created by designers selected by Bina, resourced and released under the new bina brand. For Bina, his creative and business relationship with Four Hands is his first venture since founding Environment Furniture Inc., of which he was the creative director and chief designer.
For Hatton and his award-winning Four Hands team, the collaboration with Bina - considered a groundbreaking designer in the realm of sustainable harvesting and reclaimed woods - continues the template of innovation and renewal that has always been a hallmark of Four Hand’s fluid and formidable infrastructure.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Thomas,” Hatton said. “He is a rare and visionary talent who combines the art of design with the entrepreneurial spirit. I’ve known Thomas since my first year in the business, and have followed his amazing career with great admiration. He has not only launched breakthrough collections, but proved to our entire industry how sophisticated, ‘conscious’ design can strike a chord with customers across the globe.
“This partnership affords both Thomas and Four Hands new opportunities to strengthen our existing commitment to bold, sustainable furniture solutions. We embrace his talent and spirited work ethic, and know that the strides we take together will enable our partners and global stakeholders around the world to flourish as well. Four Hands also has a strategy on tap to actively seek distribution outlets in new international territories.”
For Bina, choosing Four Hands as his first venture outside of the imprint he founded speaks volumes about his belief in the acclaimed company’s catalytic values and operations.
“I’m excited to become part of the incredible Four Hands dynamic,” Bina said. “Their North American staff, along with their worldwide operations, possess that rare combination of unblinking creative support coupled with a rock-solid business foundation. Brett and Matt command respect across the globe, and yet are able to approach each project with a hands-on sensitivity and attention to detail that has made us kindred spirits from day one. The combination of our talents fits perfectly. We’re ecstatic to be introducing the bina brand to the world, and promise there is so much more to come.”
Four Hands president Matthew Briggs commented, “Thomas is a world-class designer with a reservoir of talent and design acumen unique to our business and the design-field at large. His impeccable aesthetic has always been in line with Four Hands creative culture: To motivate; To innovate; To induce that extra effort and deliver a product people are clamoring for. The bina brand is optimally positioned to impact the marketplace with our standard commitment to operational excellence in all things.”
