Oracle can today announce that G. James Australia (www.gjames.com.au/) , a leading Australasian manufacturer of glass and aluminium products for the construction industry, is one of the first companies in Australia to implement Oracle SOA Suite 11g (www.oracle.com/technologies/soa/soa-suite.html) .
With the need to streamline integration between their recently implemented Oracle E-Business Suite and other business critical systems including specialist third-party applications and a legacy COBOL/ISAM application, G. James Australia has deployed Oracle SOA Suite 11g to provide real-time integration and visibility.
Leveraging components of Oracle SOA Suite 11g, including Oracle BPEL Process Manager (www.oracle.com/appserver/bpel_home.html) , deployed on Oracle WebLogic Server 11g (www.oracle.com/us/products/middleware/application-server/index.htm) , G. James Australia has implemented a Service Oriented Architecture to provide standards-based interfaces and web services to connect half a dozen of their core business systems, moving away from more manual, labour intensive methods of integration without replacing or re-engineering existing assets.
With a phased implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite (www.oracle.com/us/products/applications/ebusiness/index.htm) , G. James needed to maximise their existing application investments, and integration with the existing legacy system was crucial to provide a consolidated view of a customer’s orders, invoices, and credit limits, to determine in real-time if a customer order can be processed. As the first process to go live using Oracle SOA Suite 11g, a comprehensive view of customer exposure is instantly available and additionally, provided as a real-time feed from Oracle E-Business Suite.
In the past, to achieve this or similar changes would require cumbersome code changes across many interdependent programs. Today, using Oracle SOA Suite 11g and Oracle BPEL Process Manager has simplified the way interfaces are developed and changes can be implemented rapidly, leveraging built-in error and exception handling capabilities for full visibility.
As business units become accustomed to rapid turn-around times, momentum is building for additional processes to be built and deployed using Oracle SOA Suite 11g. The vision for G. James is that all systems, machines and devices on the factory floor leverage a standards-based SOA infrastructure to maximise investments in existing systems, and streamline integration for rapid delivery and enhanced visibility.
G. James Australia uses several elements of Oracle E-Business Suite 12i, including Humans Capital Management (www.oracle.com/applications/human_resources/intro.html) , Financials (www.oracle.com/applications/financials/intro.html) and The Oracle Manufacturing Operations Centre (www.oracle.com/applications/scm/manufacturing-operations-center.html) . They also make extensive use of Oracle Enterprise Linux, and are currently investigating Oracle 11g R2 Grid Infrastructure.
