BRISTOL, England, November 4, 2011 -
GDS International’s HR Director Fraser Jamieson has completed an astonishing feat of physical endurance in aid of the company’s 2011 charity fund raising for the National Autistic Society.
Global business events company GDS International (www.gdsinternational.com) launched its charitable foundation (www.gdsfoundation.com) in March 2011 to provide a focus for its staff’s many talents and to help charities that work with autism spectrum disorder children and young people.
Everyone in GDS got involved: shaking buckets, eating super-hot chicken wings, travelling 1800 miles for under £50 in 72 hours, facing assault courses, organising gigs, and cooking food from their home countries for a world café. But no one put in as much individual effort as HR Director Fraser Jamieson.
Fraser, with his running partners Martin and Gareth, completed a 119-mile non-stop endurance challenge, running from one side of Devon to the other, in 41 hours!
They crossed Devon, from Wembury in the south to Lynmouth in the north, following the Erme Plym Trail to Ivybridge and the Two Moors Way over Dartmoor and Exmoor.
“Devon is truly a beautiful part of the world and we saw it at its best,” says Fraser. “Coupled with the euphoric feeling of finishing, it was worth every step. That said, it bloody hurt and our feet are blistered.”
Thanks to Fraser’s hard work and the hard work of 449 other GDS International staff, the company has raised £31,500 for autism charities worldwide.
