Impact Executives Hold Annual Business Breakfast

LONDON, January 31, 2011 - Impact Executives (www.impactexecutives.com/) held
their Annual Business Breakfast at The Lanesborough Hotel on Thursday 27th
January 2010. Guest speakers were Deborah Baker, Group Director of People for
Sky and Dr. Nigel MacLennan who has been leading leaders to make successful
changes for over 20 years.

Deborah Baker discussed Sky's commitment to ensuring that the
people plan reflects the key business drivers, how impact and output is
imperative to all parts of the business and gave some practical examples on
how they have achieved this. Across the business they recruit for attitude;
you can always train skills but you can't train attitude. They are
continually seeking to remove bureaucracy and have created a flatter
structure that ensures anybody in the organisation, irrespective of role is
encouraged to have creative input and decisions are made faster. They have
created a Development Studio and internal social networks to assist with the
relentless pursuit to seek out the best and as the Sky strap line says,
"Believe in Better."

Dr. Nigel MacLennan set out to prove how HR can add more value
than all other functions in any business. By creating organisations that are
outcome focused and by systemising cutting edge techniques HR can add massive
value across the business. A typical change programme costs GBP15m and 85% of
these fail. By engaging the cutting edge techniques waste can be eliminated
resulting in successful change programmes.

Both speakers agreed that it is a business imperative that
their leaders are leading and people plan is aligned to the business agenda.
In times like this the people element to any business is critical. If the
people department is able to get this right then the business will flourish.
