Company Bucks Economic Doom and Gloom as Revenues Achieve 10% Growth on Same Period Last Year
ALTRINCHAM, England, March 30, 2010 - Maxa Technologies (Maxatec), the approved supplier of POS and EPOS
[www.maxatec-europe.com/ ] systems, has turned the most severe
economic downturn into an opportunity for growth. The company is proud to
report a growth in revenues of 10% this financial year compared to the same
period last year, and has not only maintained staffing levels but has
increased their head count with plans for further appointments later this
financial year.
Maxatec [www.maxatec-europe.com/ ]was formed as a result of a
management buy out in 2003. Since then the company has established a
successful business based on their core strengths as a supplier of hardware
and services for the POS [www.maxatec-europe.com/ ], Auto ID and
Mobile market sectors in the UK and Europe.
However, the economic storm placed all UK IT suppliers under increasing
strain to prove their worth. Andrea Percival, managing director of Maxatec
[www.maxatec-europe.com/ ] says:
"As a small company we potentially had to fight even harder to survive.
However, I believe that our ability to think out of the box and create
innovative IT solutions and tailor them for niche markets has been the key to
our success to date. We actually saw this economic situation as being an
ideal opportunity for companies like us. Understanding the needs of your
customers and demonstrating a commitment to keep developing and expanding new
solutions and product offerings makes a company an attractive proposition and
valuable resource for customers and partners alike."
The business is spread across EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) with
approximately 50% of the business being outside of the UK through their
strong distribution partners in Scandinavia, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and
Germany. Maxatec [www.maxatec-europe.com/ ] has also had recent
success in exporting into Russia and have high hopes for further growth with
their new partner in this area. They also export their UK manufactured
products to the USA which last financial year accounted for around 12% of
their revenues.
Andrea added: "Although some budgets have been put on hold or tightened,
we have demonstrated that our products actually save money, increases
productivity and efficiencies, providing a fast return on investment. Our
business has been quite robust given the extent of the recession, but we
consciously made sure that we did not have all our eggs in one basket from a
product, market or geographic perspective. For example, we have made
particular inroads in developing and supplying the charity market with full
Point of Sale (POS) solutions and have also expanded our commercial mobile
offering to the education, healthcare and emergency services markets."
Maxatec has seized on the growth of mobile computing [

products from a number of leading technology manufacturers from various
countries including China. Today mobile applications offer companies so many
advantages and are increasingly being introduced to perform a variety of
business tasks. It enables companies to stay connected with their mobile
workforce and allows them instant access to relevant information. More and
more industries are becoming mobilised resulting in a very dynamic and
interesting market.
Andrea concludes:
"The positive effect the recession has had on companies is that it has
changed the way people do business. It's been the biggest and most far
reaching shake -up ever. Managers have had to re-think strategies and respond
to tougher competition and, dare I say it, truly listen to their customers
needs. Even when the economic climate improves, businesses will not be able
to go back to their old ways. Customers will continue to expect the new
'lean' approach from their suppliers. They will expect companies to be
flexible and not change adverse.
In my view companies that stay the course during these times will be set
for a prosperous future."
