It is Estimated That Over 40 Million Brits* Would Like to Fundraise Whilst Sleeping, as UK Public Wishes They had More Time for Good Causes

LONDON, March 17, 2011 - A third (35%) of Brits surveyed admit they are simply too busy with their
everyday lives to help raise money for charity, reveals research released
today by Breathe Right, a supporting partner of Red Nose Day 2011. The
results also show that the UK public would love to do more with the same
number (35%) saying they feel guilty about not parting with time or money for
good causes.
To help the public multi-task and add fundraising hours to the day,
Breathe Right has joined forces with Comic Relief and this year, for the
first time ever, people will be able to raise money in their sleep for Red
Nose Day. Breathe Right discovered that two thirds of the UK population (67%)
which could equate to over 40 million people*, would be keen to raise money
for charity whilst tucked up in bed and if they can be catching some ZZzzs at
the same time all the better! With only 1 sleep left until Red Nose Day,
we're urging Brits UK wide to find the time to fundraise in what is possibly
the easiest way to raise cash for Comic Relief.
Let's Dance finalist Russell Kane urges the public to have a charitable
snooze:
"This may be one of the easiest ways to raise money for Comic Relief, a
charity that supports so many worthwhile causes."
Peep Show's Isy Suttie also thinks the public should multi-task whilst
sleeping:
"I love the idea of raising money for Red Nose Day in your sleep,
everyone can multi-task while they're asleep - I sometimes wake up finding
I've cooked a three course meal - so it's time to put those skills to some
use for a fantastic cause."
'DO IT IN YOUR SLEEP' by purchasing a GBP1 limited edition pack of red
Breathe Right nasal strips, with at least 12p from every pack helping raise
at least GBP150,000 for Comic Relief. The limited edition strips are
available to buy via GSK Direct at www.gskdirect.co.uk/rednoseday or
leading retailers nationwide.
Notes to editors
Research conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Breathe Right amongst 1,500 UK
adults aged 18 and over from 02.02.11-03.02.11
*40 million Brits figure is based on 67% of people surveyed answering
'yes' when asked 'If you were given the power to raise money for charity
whilst being tucked up in bed would you be keen?'. This could equate to
2/3rds of the UK population. The estimated resident population of the UK was
61792000 in mid-2009: www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=6
By raising cash this Red Nose Day, you're helping to change lives
forever. That's because Comic Relief spends all the money raised by the
public to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and
Africa a helping hand to turn their lives around.
