Kyiv's International Film Festival Hosts Real-Time Acting by All-Time French Cinema Stars on Stage

KIEV, Ukraine, October 25, 2010 - The opening ceremony of the 40th annual international film
festival "Molodist" ("Youth") has brought together a bouquet of never-aging
world famous French cinema stars: Gerard Depardieu, Sophie Marceau &
Cristophe Lambert, and Fanny Ardant.

The opening ceremony of the festival turned out to be a real
blast first of all thanks to its fabulous hosts - Gerard Depardieu and Renata
Litvinova, a famous Russian actress. A mix of a few scenario-based passages
with live acting performances, the opening ceremony came as a full-fledged
interactive improvisation by Gerard and his Russian colleague.

Talking about the history of the Soviet, French and world
cinema on stage, the easy-going Depardieu several times loudly appealed to
the simultaneous interpreter in his earphones, making all the guests laugh
and applaud. Later he kissed Sophie Marceau on her lips right in front of
Cristophe Lambert standing next to her. This was in response to Sophie making
a joke about the Ukrainian traditions of kissing. All this made the public
feel amidst a stage-based reality show instead of a pre-planned ceremony.

The lovely Sophie Marceau & Cristophe Lambert are in Ukraine's
capital for the second time in the last two months. In September they came to
Kyiv as visitors and took part in the opening of a high-class restaurant. The
movie by Alain Monet, starring both Marceau and Lambert, opened the official
program of the 40th Molodist.

Their famous French colleague Fanny Ardant, who also takes
part in the festival as a star of "Crimeres absentes" (Absent Dreams), has
conquered the public's heart by singing acapello the song which she heard
from a Soviet immigrant who used to work in her family house when she was a
child.

Kyiv steadily continues on its path to become a hotspot for
world's cinema stars. The latest French stars' visit is not only a tribute to
the 40th anniversary of the famous film festival, but also a sign of their
emotional ties with the hosting country and the city which starts building
up.
