The Sherpa people hold the area in high esteem and even consider it the matriarch of the entire universe owing to its magnificence. The Buddhists who have inhabited the area for many years have protected the area within which the trek is undertaken as a sacred environment. Presently, the national park protects Everest. Animals such as the deer are also protected. The Himalayan landscape is a beautiful sight that forms a major part of a memorable trek through the overall remarkable scenery of Everest. This is coupled with a chance to feast on delicious Nepalese cuisine and share in the other interesting cultures of these unique people.

The most common ailment is altitude sickness. The difference in the altitude and oxygen levels is usually the first challenge to affect climbers. This sickness usually affects people who ascend the mountain too quickly. In addition, it can affect anyone in altitudes of 3000 meters and over. It manifests itself in the form of headaches, nausea and breathing difficulty. Sometimes, some people may experience loss of memory. It is recommended that you drink plenty of fluids and get adequate rest. First time enthusiasts should also be advised to take things slow. There are also medications available for altitude sickness. If there is no respite, one is advised to descend immediately as increased ascent may be fatal.

After you reach Namche, you will be required to cross a river using a suspension bridge. When you cross the river turn left and move towards northeast along the Linkhu Khola River. You will see a link bridge but do not cross the bridge but instead continue walking along the banks of the river. After walking for about one and a half hours, you will see a suspension bridge that you will be required to cross. After another two and a half minutes walk, you will see Hinganga post office. After three hours walk, Sete is noticeable at a distance.
