Enhancements Address New Standards, Extend ALM Support and Improve Performance and Usability

Extending its commitment to providing the most complete, open and integrated tools for Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE), SOA and Web 2.0 application development, Oracle today announced the availability of Oracle JDeveloper (www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/index.html) 11g Release 2.
The new release further enhances the overall development experience by delivering an improved Integrated Development Environment (IDE), including support for new technologies and standards, as well as updates to Oracle Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) (www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/overview/index.html) 11g.
Part of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g (www.oracle.com/us/products/middleware/index.html) , Oracle JDeveloper is a free integrated development environment that simplifies the development of Java-based SOA applications and user interfaces with support for the full development life cycle.
Enhancing Productivity for Java Developers
Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2 delivers significant performance and usability improvements. In addition, updates to Oracle ADF 11g further simplify the development experience. New capabilities include:
Support for new JavaServer Faces 2.0 and Facelets standards: Provides a highly visual editing environment for Java EE Web developers.
Updated ADF JavaServer Faces Rich Client Components: Oracle’s framework for building rich Internet applications now supports JavaServer Faces 2.0 and introduces new features such as interactive thematic maps.
Infrastructure changes to facilitate OSGi tooling: Makes the creation of OSGi based extensions for Oracle JDeveloper much easier and improves overall product performance.
New Oracle ADF Faces skin editor: Makes user interface customization simpler with a visual CSS editor.
Improved support for emerging technologies including: RESTful Web Services – Simplifies use of REST services as data sources in Oracle ADF; Maven – Integrated development and runtime environment for Maven based build processes; Hudson – Integrated support for the Hudson continuous integration server through Oracle Team Productivity Center (TPC).

Availability and Pricing
Oracle JDeveloper 11g is free of charge and available for download from the Oracle Technology Network. An option for technical support can be purchased separately under the Oracle Technology Network license. Oracle ADF 11g is free to download for evaluation and use during development.
