ARNHEM, The Netherlands, September 28, 2011 -

Teijin Aramid will present its high performance aramid fibers Twaron and Technora during the OTC Brasil in Rio de Janeiro on October 4-6, 2011. The synthetic fiber products are not just a suitable substitute but it’s also a more effective and comprehensive solution for deepwater drilling equipment. The Teijin Aramid products play a key role wherever strength, safety, durability and low weight are required.

As oil explorers make the necessary move into deeper waters, many tried and tested materials are undergoing reappraisal. Teijin’s aromatic polyamide fibers Twaron and Technora are the ideal solutions for deepwater drilling equipment. They are at least five times stronger than steel at the same weight and are often applied in Oil & Gas application areas such as product and workover umbilicals, flexible flowlines, offloading marine hose, seismic cables, ROV cables, mooring lines and hoisting ropes. Christoph Hahn, Sales & Marketing Director of Teijin Aramid: “Oil explorers are dealing with high temperature, heavy viscosity crudes with high CO2 content, which need to be handled by lightweight, chemically and temperature resistant materials. Twaron and Technora have steel-like properties, but without the disadvantages. We have a strong presence in offshore exploration, particularly in deepwater locations such as the North Sea, Gulf of Mexico and offshore Brazil as a growing market.”

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) is the world’s foremost event for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production, and environmental protection. OTC is held annually in Houston. For the first time ever, the Offshore Technology Conference is expanding to Brazil to create the OTC Brasil 2011 Conference and Exhibition. The program presents solutions for a wide assortment of topics and issues. These topics range from updates on major projects to new technologies and techniques to HSE and regulatory issues.

Teijin Aramid experts will be present at booth 1158 (pavilion 3)to share recent industry developments and to discuss how visitor’s products could benefit from the added value of its aramid fibers.
