VocaLink Leverages Oracle WebLogic Server to Power High Performance Payment Processing Platform

To deliver a fast, flexible and secure transaction processing platform that could scale to meet rapidly rising automated payment volumes, VocaLink, a specialist provider of transaction services to banks, corporate customers and Government departments, implemented Oracle WebLogic Server (www.oracle.com/us/products/middleware/application-server/index.htm) .

Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Enterprise Manager are key elements of Oracle WebLogic Suite (www.oracle.com/appserver/weblogic/weblogic-suite.html?_template=/ocom/printocom) , the strategic platform for Oracle Fusion Middleware integrating into a single infrastructure Oracle WebLogic Server for Java applications, Oracle Coherence for in memory data grids and Oracle JRockit for a high performance, low latency Java Virtual Machine.

VocaLink overhauled its previous payment platform – Replacement Electronic Funds Transfer (REFT) – with Oracle WebLogic Server in order to better manage the explosive growth in payment transaction volume.

The VocaLink Payments Platform, was delivered on time, on budget and with no disruption to service delivery, allowing VocaLink to deliver uninterrupted services to its 100,000 corporate users while also advancing its mission to deliver more transactions through a wider variety of channels.

By providing a comprehensive Java platform for developing, deploying and integrating enterprise applications, Oracle WebLogic Server also helped VocaLink support the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), a European initiative geared towards driving down cross-border payment transaction costs by offering unrivalled capacity, compliance, flexibility and security within one platform.

By supporting one of the most advanced, scalable and flexible payment infrastructures in the world, Oracle WebLogic Server also enabled VocaLink to extend its market leadership by delivering the performance needed to support a choice of settlement options and a range of value added services.

The VocaLink Real Time Payments Platform processes up to 1,400,000 payments per hour, while reducing infrastructure-provisioning times from 14 days to 2 days per environment and infrastructure project defects by 90%.
