Legal & General’s online income calculator has proven to be very popular with thousands of annuity customers searching the market for the best annuity rates available.

Launched in December last year, the calculator has already had more than 20,000 visitors. Tim Gosden, Head of Annuity Product Development for Legal & General, believes it is the usability and convenience of the calculator that appeals most to customers;

“What makes our calculator so popular is that it is incredibly easy to use and there’s no need to input personal information. It’s available 24 hours a day and it literally takes seconds for users to get a good idea of the level of income we can offer them. They can then try adding and removing annuity options to see how their income changes.

We’re finding that people are making really good use of this tool, typically taking a few minutes to experiment with four or five different combinations of annuity options and learn more about them. Many are then taking the opportunity to call us for their personalised quotes, which are guaranteed for 18 days.”
